Beginner Program

The Beginner program is the entry level into active academic programming.

There are three class categories including Beginner Class A for students in kindergarten – grade 3 (Ages 5 – 8), Beginner Class B for students in grade 4 – 8 (Ages 9 - 13) and Beginner Class C for students in grade 9 and above (Ages 14 and above). The same topics are covered for all class categories within the beginners’ level.

The Beginner program is broken into 3 trimesters per academic year.

A final examination will be conducted at the end of this academic level with a minimum cutoff of 60% required to progress to the next academic level.

Entry requirements

Entry is based on attaining the appropriate age category and willingness to learn.

1 Year school term

The program is made up of a 2 unit credit load that occurs every Saturday for 3 months per trimester, in the academic year.

Saturdays 1pm - 3pm

The Edmonton Igbo School is currently operating online and meets every Saturday for 2 hours from 1pm to 3pm.

Certificate

A Certificate in Igbo Language Literacy is awarded at the end of successful completion of this academic level with a pass mark of 60%.
